Description

The story of an early industrial village from the 18th century to the present, starting with its establishment, in 1762, by Charles Roe as a copper manufactury, through its development as a textile manufacturing centre, the impact of the ‘Great Flood’ of 1872 and it’s re-emergence as a centre of cigar manufacture trading on the name ‘Havannah’, to its prominence as a centre for the mechanical production of velvet.
